Excel 2019 and Excel 365 Tutorials

We strongly recommend that you learn Excel using a modern version (Excel 2019 or 365)

Excel 2019 (and the January 2019 release of Excel 365) were probably the most significant updates ever made to the Excel product.  Excel can now analyse data in ways that were not possible with any previous version.  For this reason we don’t recommend that you use an outdated version to learn Excel.  If you learn with Excel 365 or Excel 2019 you’ll still be able to use the older versions of Excel (Excel 2016, 2013, 2010 and 2007) with your modern skills.  You’ll just find that they have fewer features.

Excel 365 is the most powerful version of Excel and has every feature.  Excel 365 users are always up-to-date with the latest and greatest version of Excel as it is automatically updated with a new semi-annual update in January and July.  You can even download Office 365 for a 30-day free trial – plenty of time to learn Excel – so there is no good reason to use an outdated version to learn.  To use Office 365 longer-term you can rent a copy of Office 365 from Microsoft for seven dollars a month.

Excel 2019 isn’t as full-featured as Excel 365 but can be bought for a one-time payment which some users prefer.  Unlike Excel 365 it isn’t constantly  updated with new features so is less powerful.

Older Versions. If you really want to learn with an outdated version we still publish our back-catalogue of courses for Excel 2016Excel 2013, Excel 2010 and Excel 2007.

Learning by doing, An alternative approach to learning and applying Excel skills

For over 900 years craftsmen have traditionally taught their skills to an apprentice. In this model the apprentice learned his trade by observing how the master craftsman used his skills. This construction kit will teach you advanced Excel skills in the same way. Even if you only have basic Excel skills, the construction kit is designed in such a way that you’ll be able to construct a complex polished professional Excel application that would be well beyond the powers of most advanced Excel users.

This book is also available for Excel 2016.
