Learn Excel 2010 Essential Skills with The Smart Method

Excel 2010 Essential Skills is available as a book, e-Book and video tutorial.

Excel 2010 was very different from the modern (2016 and later) versions of Excel. Updates to the original version did not substantially change any features.  Microsoft called this a fixed lifecycle. With the release of Excel 2016 Microsoft introduced the modern lifecycle. This new way of working means that Excel is constantly evolving with semi-annual major updates (in the same way as Windows 10).

The older fixed lifecycle Excel versions (Excel 2007, 2010 and 2013) enabled us to produce narrated video courses that were a real alternative to learning from a book. The video product covered all of the material contained in the Excel 2010 Essential Skills printed book. Buyers could choose to purchase either a book or a video version of each course.

Video material for the new modern lifecycle (Excel 2016) versions.

With a new Excel 2016 version every six months there is insufficient time to create a stand-alone Excel 2016 video course (as we did for Excel 2010). Instead we update our Excel 2016 books and e-books for each new release. We also record free Excel 2016 video walkthroughs that are not useful by themselves but can help learners who have difficulty completing an Excel 2016 book lesson.

If you need Excel skills to get a job – but you’ve never used Excel before, this book will give you all the skills an employer would expect. By the end of the Essential Skills course your Excel skills will be better than most office workers.

The (paper) printed books, e-books and video courses are completely separate products. You can learn Excel 2010 with a book on its own, or using only the video tutorial.

The Essential Skills book is also published in an e-Book version and has exactly the same content as the (paper) printed book. The e-Book is printable and can be viewed on any device.

    1. Hi psvbarman,
If you have subscribed to the 2010 Essential Skills course and you are not seeing the video lessons on this page it is most likely that you are not logged in. You can log in by going to this page.

After logging in you should see all of the video lessons on this page.

        1. Hi psvbarman,

The video gallery only shows 6 videos per page, but there are arrows at the bottom of the gallery that allow you to move through the pages and view every video in the course. There is also a search box that allows you to search for a specific video (this information is also shown at the top of the page when logged in). My guess is that you just need to use the arrows to move to the next page.

If you’re not seeing the arrows my only other guess is that you may be logged in as a different user. If it’s possible that someone else may have logged into the site on your computer you may have to log out and log back in as your own user account.

If you are definitely logged in with your own user account you should definitely have access to all of the 2010 Essential and 2010 Expert videos. If you continue to have problems please let us know and we will keep trying to find a solution.
